Figgy had an abcess earlier in the week, have been poulticing it and he is pretty sound on it now

The vet said I could turn him out if I wanted, but I kept him in until yesterday when I put them out for a few hours.

Shall I go back to turning out normally now without the poultice or keep poulticing it?

I cant find my paddock boot anywhere and yesterday the poultice didnt hold obviously but the cotton wool I shoved in the crack and the duct tape was still on when I got there. The poltice had worn through at the bottom though.

I have to go back to work tomorrow so do I turn them back out 24/7 again, or turn out in the morning at 6am and bring them back in about 7pm when I get home, or keep them in?

This is the groove the vet cut out, is it not a bit exposed to just be out without anything covering it?

If the pus has finished you can plug the hole with keratex hoof putty. One tin will last the horses life time but its great stuff for plugging holes in the feet. Its like a wax, you warm it up so it goes sticky (bit messy on hands though) then shove it in the hole and up around hoof to help it stick. It then cools down and sticks. Replace when needed.

It normally holds itself. With your hole though i would plenty up around the hoof wall to help it. If you just fill the hole on its own it may not stay. It is good but its not super glue if that makes sense!
