What should i aim for? BSJA people - helppp!!! :)

Helooo, i am getting rocky back monday and am going to continue with his BSJA, and am also going to do some BD on him, aswell as the PC teams.
I know what i want to aim for this year BD and PC - would like to do:
a few elementarys BD
PC int DR
PC open SJing..

However, i dont have a clue what sort of classes i should be aiming at bsja with him??? Hes qualified 2nd rounds discovery and is doing them this sunday with the people hes with at the moment, so we shall see how that goes, but i really have no clue what to do with him when he comes back to me???
He just needs one more BN dc before qualifiying for BN second rounds, so once hes got that, can i then enter a BN second round? Also, if he qualifies on sunday in the disco second rounds, where do we go from there?
Have seen alot of these "1.10M AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST ROUND" 1m/1.15m etc... what do these qualify you for??

I really have no clue about how bsja works as of yet, as you can tell!! so anyone who can help me understand a bit more about all of these classes is a starrr Cookies and hot chocolate to all who suceed!!

Oh.. btw... like to be competing from anything around 1m-1.15m ishh, although dont mind doing something a bit smaller to qualify for something bigger, or something a bit bigger if we've qualified!

BSJA is progressive. Once the horse has won X amount, it is not eligable for certain classes and changes grades when you reach a set target. Do you have the year/rule book?? It is all in there. If you are doing 2nd round Disc, then I would think Newcomers or Fox would be a good progression. Have a good read through the handbook and it is self explanitary. Hope this helps.:)
 
ahh good idea! hadnt thought of that :p Brill thanks... what are these ameteur championship classes? They seem to be the only things in the area at the height i want to compete at the moment! Thanks
 
I am unsure about the Amateur championships, how about going on the BSJA website? There is alot of info and the rule book on there. I take it you are in seniors? I have only had experience with juniors but there isn't a massive difference, well, apart from the heights of course. lol
 
well im junior associate as riding a horse... so yeh doing senior classes :) will explore the website and rulebook! Thanks
 
Am champs are good for am. riders on possibly more experienced horses who are out of certain classes, normally anyone aprt from the top 150/200 of the rankings list can ride in them.They will qualify you for second rounds also but am. ones. Disc second round will go up to about 1.20 in the third round, its quite hard to win it. You would be better getting your last BN double clear an doing this if your horse hasn't won too much money already. You can still jump open classes though at whatever height you choose even if your horse is out of BN/Disc.
 
Took my daughter to some bsja shows last year (she is also an associate member) and we qualified at a local show for the 1m national amateur champs.

So off we toddled to the second round, me thinking stupidly that it would be a metre, and much to our joint horror the class was huge and technical!

So the idea is presumably to qualify at a lower height than you normally jump so you can actually manage the next round (daughter had jumped 1.10 courses before but outside on grass, not indoors). Lesson learnt!
 
thanks for that! will try and get a few clears round some BNs athough probably harder to leave those poles up than it would be in a 1.05/1.10 class! :p thanks
