I currently loan a horse on a yard near my house. Ive been friends with the YO for 8 years and known her for a lot longer.
The yard is never full YO always has a few boxes spare and plenty of acreage. The horse I loan is a good schoolmaster type for flatwork and small jumps (less than 2ft9) but he is getting on in years and im thinking of getting my own horse when his owner retires him.
I have been looking at different type of horses and im very unsure as to what type or breed I woul like. The horse I am loaning is a heinz bit of everything looks like a cobby type with longer legs. Hes great and about 15hh.
I am looking for something I can do low level BE with, probably up to BE100 at the very most and do a decent test but above all I would like it to be sane and sensible and not cost the earth to keep, some list isnt it
. Im willing to get something young and bring it on, I have a decent quiet seat and hands and in the past I have backed youngsters and also helped bring them on for people, Im not amazing nor any type of professional by any means but Im competant Id say
There are lots of different types I have ridden from the yard. I have ridden and done some small comps on WBs, TBs, ISHs, Natives and native crosses and also have competed showing and WH on an anglo (she was lovely I was gutted when she was sold and left ) and this is what is confusing me as I dont know what I would like
no bigger than 16hh though.
My thoughts are
Connemara's or X Connies
ID x TBs (
Anglo or X's
small WB (Im not tall 5ft4)
Welsh D x TBs (two of these on the yard lovely)
What do we think? Anyone who has one of the above feel free to let me know perks and pitfalls of the above thanks
