Went to the yard where I work and my boss's horse who normally wears a cribbing collar had managed to twist it round and was cribbing on his door, now when I started a few months back she said if I ever found him without it on to call her immediatly as he gets colic when he cribs, so I tried ringing, but no answer, (no one else at yard as do it on my own) so put collar back on straight and get everything done, while still trying to get hold of her, but two hours later and still no answer.

I had to leave as had other jobs to do, so leave a long message and go to next job, but as I am leaving I see that he is cribbing with his collar on! so try ringing her again, and no luck, now we are going out tonight and I am planning on going up and checking on him on the way, but really dont know what else I can do, have no other contact numbers for her, and he didnt look colicy when I left, but feel very responsible

Any ideas?!

That's really good of you. I think all you can do is to check him on the way out and try calling her again. Alternatively you could pop round if it's local to you ???

What does she usually do if he cribs with collar on ? Is it cos he wants his tea ? Won't she be up to feed him ?

He was probably just trying to crib with the collar on, because he could when it had slipped round. I honestly do not think there is/was anything else you could do. The owner asked you ring her if he does crib which you have do lots of times, its not your fault she didn't answer.

think you've done all you can do. She will get the message and as you are checking on him when you go out I don't think there is much more you can do. You've already done more than a lot of people would have done.

I think if you can go back and check on him then you've done all you can do, and probably all the owner would do. Keep trying to call her too.

Have you checked the collar is tight enough. Sometimes they need to be tightened if they are managing to crib. I am sure he will be fine, but you have done all you can.
