I have a 15 month old filly that has tragically 3 weeks ago lost her fieldmate and best friend since birth. She is turned out with an 18 year old mare (mother of the other filly) who at best ignores her. She has no other horse to interact within that paddock and she looks miserable. I feel very sad for her. I am in a position, land and stable wise to get another friend for her. However, i have very limited funds. I was thinking of a coloured cob type filly that i could ride in the future ( the filly i lost was to be my future riding horse.) but also do in hand shows, but with limited money would i get something worth showing? I am considering putting the mare in foal again next year but that is 2 years till my yearling has a friend. Where should i look for a reasonable priced (hundreds not £1000's) youngster.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Hugs hun.

As to something in the hundreds, word of mouth, sales, tack shops, riding clubs, etc.

Hope the right one comes to you soon :)

Have another hug and a hot choccy :)

If you are breeding from her again anyway next year (not sure if you are breeding for $$$ or for your own personal use as a riding horse) couldn't you use the foal you bred for your future riding horse instead of buying one?

:(

really sad to read this too. I'd like to give a huge vote for gypsy cobs - very friendly ponies, who'll make a fab addition to your family. xx

Filly will only make about 14hh and is quite fine, she is for my daughter. I need a chunckier sort about 15 /15.2 it is a friend she needs now. If i do breed from my mare again it would never be sold.
