My 21yo ex MW hunter retired 2 years ago, he is normally hard to keep weight on having to be fed through summer, he is however this yeard doing very well even a little on the podgy side which isnt a bad thing going into winter, currently havin 1/2 scoop alfa a original and 1/4pony nuts when he comes in. last winte rhe was having 1 alfa a senior, 1/2 oats,1/2 dodson & horral senior and a 1/2 mixed flake twice a day and he kept his weight well. aswell as 10kg haylage/night more if in longer etc.

What can anyone reccommend for veterans that is not going to add extra weight onto him but maintain as he is...he will always have alfa a or similar and also has 10kg haylage/night and extra if in during the day.
Thanks (a pic of his current weight is in my profile pics if that helps!)

In winter feeding hi fibre helps to keep the horse warm from the inside, many TB's lose weight from trying to keep warm.

So add wool underrug as weather gets colder and introduce sugarbeet - high fibre, keeps weight on and includes calcium.

Extruded Barley, will also help keep weight on.

Thanks, he has many rugs so thats always the plan usually he has a duvet on under a rug as its lighter to wear but super warm!!
Thanks for the suggestions hopefully this winter as he is a good weaight now he wil come through it looking good but not too good for spring grass!
