What should I use to paint a black pony?

My daughter has a Halloween show coming up, and they are encouraging fancy dress.

I it would be fun to paint the pony like a skeleton. What is the best product to do this please?

I could make him a ghost but in the pairs class the other pony is a ghost, a whole load easier as he is grey lol

Any other ideas are very welcome re fancy dress

You can get liquid chalk in Makro, its like a big pen. I used to turn a dark pony into a Zebra sometimes! You would be able to draw the bones on with that.

Maybe face paint? You would need quite a lot! Greasepaint comes in great big sticks that would do the job.

What do they use when they do those demos of the internal organs of a horse?

Where do I get grease paint from, sadly we do not have a makro

I will defiantly take lots of pictures if I pull it off

Try Supreme Products they do a range of white stuff to cover blemishes when you are showing. I think it comes in sticks and doesn't come off the way chalk would.

I once did our coloured up as an indian pony and used a palette of kids face paint from the toy shop but you probably need more than that.

You know the chalk blocks you buy for White sox? Just mix it up into a paste x

I painted a black pony once as a Red Indian pony (warpaint look) I used childrens Ready Mixed poster Colour as it washes off & wont cause skin irritation. Looks really good, is cheap so you can use loads.

Flour & water paste worked for green spots on a black horse - used food dye for the colour. Only problem was the owner (we did it for a laugh ) spent 1/2 a day cleaning the horse after!!

I used childrens finger paints in the past as they wash of easily & won't cause a reaction.

I know some one who does these demos with painted horses and just uses kids washable paint. I painted a pumpkin on my ponys bum last halloween with kids paint with no adverse effects and best of all most of it can be removed with a good brush after then just a little warm water to remove the rest.

gold label used to do a chalk paste for showing - that would work brilliantly, and you'd know it was same for pony too!

I THINK it's a kids poster paint that is used. However, contact Gillian Higgins of Horses Inside Out and explain why you want to know and I'm sure she'll help you.....this is what she does all the time!

A large quantity of face paint as it will eventually wash off!
