I am confused. Are they meant to be EVA, rubber, crumbed rubber or what? All the different manufacturers seem to say all the other things are pants apart from what they are selling!

Dont know what they should be made of. But ive got rubber mats and theyre great. Heavy but theyve lasted well. i would imagine crumbed rubber would fall apart quicker. I also have cow mats. Dont know what theyre made of, theyre much lighter than the rubber ones but they curl at the edges and they move more

I think the cow mats are EVA? kinda like a foam? the ones a friend of mine said were cow mats were def eva with rubber coating. Worked well for the sidestabling on lorry for her shetland pair, but not substantial enough for 13.2 as she would move them round. And they curl up/spread alot - needs lots of retrims and get consequently thinner.

From what I have heard and seen in my research, EVA is cheaper and lighter and may be ok if you have ponies and/or light use. But if you want them to do the job, the standard rubber mats, ie 6x4, 17mm+, slatted underside, bobble on top, are the ones to go for.
Crumb rubber I believe soaks up wee and smells more?
