I'm wanting to mix things up a bit and do some showing to build Jerry's confidence at competitions but I'm not sure what classes we could do.
He's kwpn, 20 years old and 16.2 :)

I've read that we can't do working hunter because he's classed as grade A for BS - is this correct?
Obviously, there's the veteran class but I was wondering whether he would be suited to anything else?

I can offer thornton's chocolate cake

My mind has gone blank as to showing classes atm :o but theres veteran (as you mentioned), riding horse and sports horse as he looks nice and fit :)

he looks nice and fit :)

he's actually a bit porky in that bottom picture :p
Is he not a bit chunky for riding horse classes? I thought they were more TB/finer types
Could he do the small hunter? He's a bit on the small side for lightweight hunter - well, he was when compared to the horses he was up against at his first show

When I did riding horse with my 15.1 mare she was tiny compared to everything else in the class. It was a small, local level class attached on to a Trailblazers showing show so maybe the judges weren't too picky? Check before you enter but basing it on the ones I've seen round here he should be ok. I entered into Rising Club horse too (even tho we weren't in a riding club :o ) and she was the smallest in that too.

Small hunters are between 14.2 and 15.2 so he would be too big. He could probably get away with large riding horse as he doesn't look that chunky in the pictures. There is riding club horse, some shows have warmblood classes, sport horse classes.

It's a local show so I guess I could enter him and see how it goes - no doubt the judge will be able to point us in the right direction if it all goes pear-shaped.

We did the lightweight hunter class and he was dwarfed :p

Plus, doing the riding horse class gives me an excuse to shop :D
My priorities are in the right order haha

Im gutted about not being able to do working hunter :(

Just to add in case you didn't know his rider needs long boots even if they are a junior for riding horse or hunter classes.

Sorry, not much help for your question, but your boy looks exactly like my mare (except for the socks and the fact that she's scared of jumps). Can I ask you what is bloodlines are?
Mine is harness bred and by Marvel.

According to his passport, his sire is Bentley and his dam is Emisje. I haven't had much luck tracking back any further.
I don't know much about his history other than he was in the Abu Dhabi mounted police sj team and he was badly treated so whenever we went into a competition he would freak out and refuse yet he would jump 1.30 + at home
We've sorted that problem now though :D

What a story, good for your boy to be in better hands :).
The KWPN maintains a stallion database, here is the link for his sire:

My mare came off of a dealer who did not know anything about her history but I was lucky enough to trace the old owner and the breeder on the internet from the passport info.
