just working hunter. he needs more condition over all and general tidy up. he would make a nice ridden class which is more judges on how ridable they are rather than looks but are still important or if u really fill him out he would make a brilliant middle or heavy weight. hope that helps

I'd do some WH or ridden hunter or maybe some SJ classes. Riding Club horse is a good one as well or equitation classes?? I think you could probably do a few different classes at local level and then you will probably find one area that you like doing and are good at.

There is no reason why you cant do any of the following, you may need to alter your tack/the way you present him etc and alter your showing attire but you seem to have a good alround horse, just spruce him up according to which class.

Condition in hand
Riden Horse
Ridden Hunter/Working Hunter
Jumping classes
Tack & Turnout

For example ridden horse, you may find that people will tell you that he's is not the type...but at some shows there is not a specific type, so long as its over 14.2 etc

Some might say he's not got enough condition on for hunter classes or is not a traditional looking hunter...again just take him in and have a go, if its local showing then dont worry too much about this, if he can do a nice show, jumps well then that is all you need to worry about.

There are lots of tricks of the trade to make the best out of what you have got, quarter mark/plaiting/tack (type of noseband, bridle etc so you'll have him looking lovely no matter what you take him in.

Just go and enjoy yourselves and dont forget...piccy's!!!

working hunter
riding club horse
HW hunter

for hunter classes I am afraid the feathers need to go and the tail needs pulling. good presentation and turnout will make him look a lot more impressive. For local level I think his confidition is fine - coat appears to be shining, and he is carrying the right amount of weight for general work.

I think with a good spruce up, pulled tail, plaited mane, and no feathers he would make a fab working hunter. A nice flat noseband would just polish the look off.
If you want i'll pop over and give you a hand with his turnout. He should end up looking something like this

excuse the noseband though.

Which show are you off to then?

Trim the feathers and plait him up pull his tail. HW hunter, Workers or riding club maybe but I would do HW hunter on him with the above changes
