I did a couple of inhand showing classes with my pony last year, when he couldn't be ridden due to injury. Due to his various injuries, he can no longer jump or do too much dressage. He did very well in the showing classes, despite my very limited knowledge of showing (please ignore the flash!!!) and i have kind of got bitten by the bug!!

So i was would like to do some ridden classes with him. However i don't know what i can take him in? Hes works very well on the flat and hes a 14.2hh welsh x with some arab (unregistered) 12 year old gelding, however i'm 20, so im guessing that restricts me on what i can take him in? Last year i showed him plaited up and with his feathers off as i think he looks much smarter. Is that the right thing to do? I was wondering if anyone could help what ridden classes i could enter him in? Also with him not being registered does it mean i can only do local showing?

Thank you. :)

At local shows, part bred arab, M&M - those that allow part breds, riding club pony, riding/hunter pony, not all places set an age limit, especially at local shows. His breeding won't stop him at local, but his injuries may well show up at higher levels and you also do then get age limits on some pony classes.

Tips - ditch the flash and for the classes I suggest above, you would be better with a tweed jacket and change the shirt to a pastel colour, not white. Being fussy, if you can get the plaits a little smaller they would help make him look like he has a bit more neck.

Good luck and have fun with him.
