In the next few months (prob after Christmas) I will be looking to by a pony for me to ride and share with my neice. I'v been keeping my eye on the market and there is some really nice ones but they are about 12-13hh, and i'm just not sure if it would work.
I'm 5.1f, weigh just over 9st at the moment (feckin medication, will be trying to shift about a stone of that).
So what is the minimum size i should probably look for?

Thanks xx

Gingerbread men for everyone who replies :D

I'm 5'2" and 8.5st and ride a 14.1hh pony happily. Went on a trek on Exmoor a month ago on an approx 13hh Exmoor pony and wasn't squishing it.
How big is your niece?

My nice 10 yo and about 4ft ( catching up with me ) but their is nothing to her weight wise. She has absolutely no fear of these animal and isn't bothered how big they are, she had a go on a friends 18+hh hunter(gentle giant) and loved it.

Your niece will probs grow quite a bit fairly soon. So, if she isn't bothered by something a little (lot) larger then go for it. Save the heartbreak/body-image-damaging conversations when she gets too big for it in a couple of years.

FWIW I think you should probs be on something 14.2 ish minimum anyway.
