As I've already mentioned I'm looking for a loan pony for my little brother.

He's 10. 5ft and weights about 6 - 6and a half stone.

Have been looking for something 14 - 14.2, but I honestly can't find any loan ponies in this height range. I've contacted loads of people, left messages on their voicemails but not one person has got back to me :(

I was just wondering if you think I could look at horses smaller than 14 hands?

I preferably want a native type, so it can carry a bit of weight (I weigh 8 stone, and would like the odd ride). I was thinking along the lines of a fell/dales/highland/welsh etc but would breed really doesnt matter to me!

Looking for a full loan, for a long term basis, but would consider a short term loan if thats all the owners wanted!

Would literally consider anything! :p Lil brother just wants to look after a pony, and hack out. Nothing major!

So, could I get away with looking for something smaller?

Thanks in advance :)

My DS is 9 and a half - slightly smaller but only just, and he still looks far too small on our 13hh gypsy coblet. I think you would find he would be okay on far smaller horses than 14hh. At the yard I just left there was a girl of 12 - very tall and big build, probably about 9-10 stone, with a 12hh Dartmoor. There was also a family who shared an 11hh sec A, the oldest was the 14 year old daughter who was starting to look a bit long legged on him, but was still fine. Definitely broaden your search!

Ah Im relieved at that! :p

Might start looking for natives such as exmoors etc...

I think the reason Im looking for something around 14hh is because he rode a 13.1 arab and looked abit leggy, but it the pony is smaller and chunkier, allwill be well...

hopefully Il find something smaller :p

Why not try a rescue centre??? Plenty there need homes. Think people are very wary about loaning nowadays. I know the rescue centres loan out.

There's only one local rescue centre near me which rehome and have nothing that suits might needs...

Im in Lancashire, and the charity I tried was HAPPA. Don't get me wrong they were really helpful but didnt have anything suitable, but if I cant find a loan pony Im going to (hopefully) rehome a companion from them.

If anyone can think of any other local charities let me know, Ive been thinking and thinking but I cant think of any other local ones :p
