what size rug for a welsh pony 12.1

just got a fat little (lovely pony) for my daughter a 12.1 hh welsh pony, he needs a rug what size anyone!! I was thinking a 4.6 !!

my 11.1hh takes a 4'9 & shes not that long or wide

My 11.1 took a 4'9" too. My 12.1 and 12.2 both took 5'

Don't guess, if you get it wrong you've spent needlessly. Put a tape on him & measure from centre of the chest around to a point level with the tail & that's your size.

Don't guess, one size wrong and it could rub badly.

Its like guessing where the needle is in a hay stack - my 12.2 Welsh takes a 5.3

As different makes of rugs have different fittings what I tend to do is ask the store if I can buy two and bring back the one that does not fit for a full refuund.

So far every store has said okay.

Yep, really do need to measure for one as all 11.2 of SWUO would take a 4ft 6 as well!

Measure the pony as per Toby-Zaphod's reply, then take tape measure to the tack shop and measure the rug too (as they all come up differently just like human clothes)

I've got a fat 12hh pony and he's 5ft in his rugs or 4'9" in a masta as they come up a bit bigger, so I would say yr pony would be about 5', good luck always the pony rugs hang down their chest wotever size you get, always putting darts in front of Toby's rugs.
