Want to get on ebay and look for some bargains but dont know what size would be best to buy, he is 2 and a half and fairly stock for sec A. Was in a 4ft3 last year but has bulked out alot since then. What are your section As in??

Not sure about size but do they still make those expanding ones? I saw them at Hickstead a few years ago and got one for my youngster who grew from 5ft to 5ft9 in the same rug ... but then it was dead LOL!!!

I like to know my neddies are warm in the freezing weather, I know he is a native but plenty of others rug theirs up throughout the winter.

Mine (3yo Sec A and 7yo Sec B) live out very happily without rugs. Even in the snow last winter they were toasty warm under their very thick woolly coats. When it is very windy and wet they tuck themselves under trees & hedges to keep out of the worst of the weather.

The secret to keeping them warm in bad weather is central heating - good quality grass, hay or haylage.

Our section A was fine with no rugs - fat as a pig with a big fluffy coat. At the end of the day, these ponies are designed to live up Snowdon with no rugs on... A friend up the hill from us is always complaining that she can't get the weight off her section A - get its rugs off and let it use some calories, I say, but she thinks thats cruel! Just because others rug natives doesn't mean its the right thing to do...

My 2 year old section a is in a 4'6. (Landa) she had a 4'6 saxon last winter, which still fits, but I plan to let my foal have that one, which is why she got a new one. I'm hopeful that the 4'6 will fit her forever tbh, and I agree, I rug mine, as I'd rather know they are warm etc.

My Section A was in a 4'9". I think it depends on the pony as to whether it needs rugged or not. Some do and some don't! I have a Section B who gets very cold, is miserable, loses weight etc. if she is not rugged up. Wish she was one of the hardy ones.

My 2yrs Sec A was is in a 4'9'' last winter with room to grow so am hoping this year they fit fine.

Otherwise I need to go shopping :D
