As above really, might be looking for one soon and I have about £1000 to play with. Would be travelling one 14.2 in it so something like a smaller rice/richardson or Ifor 505, don't mind if it's old as long as it has a sound floor and front unload.
Am I being a bit optomistic?

A little maybe. We have a 12 yo ifor which has been well looked after, although it is 12 and has a (newly replaced) wooden floor, we still got offered £1500 for it.

You might be looking at something which requires a bit of tlc at that money, in which case, I would save a little longer and get a better one.

Definitely recommend and Ifor Williams. We bought our 505 3 years ago when it was about 3 years old and have looked after it. We travel a 15.2hh warmblood cross an a 14.3hh irish cob, so no lightweights in it. Apart from some general maintenance needed and the odd new tyre, its been pretty much trouble free. They are also very stable to tow. Will only replace mine when I can afford a lorry!

We have an old Rice Richardson for sale that wants a paint job and some new lining on front ramp and a tyre. Other than that its sound for £850 so if you take into account the wood that would be about your price bracket so they are out there. Probably get better prices nearer October time? We looked at a very old 505 which was still £1300 so they do seem to hold price..

I have just bought an ifor williams 505 (old slyle) with new floor and front unload for £850 needs a little bit of work but ok for money I paid. Keep looking it took a while for me to find one, but I did see a few bad ones asking for much more money... good luck

I managed to get a 505 with new aluminium floor and in great condition for £1000 - bought it off e-bay, went to look at it first, people selling it were local to us and took it off e-bay and sold it to us privately. Really chuffed with the deal

You might be lucky, but be careful, I would advise saving a bit more. Make sure you get aluminium floor. Old wooden floors are very dangerous. Old wooden trailers are also very heavy. Ifor Williams are good but hold value.

You'd get a rice/richardson quite easily, check out ebay and the usual places, just try to check it in person as my friend bought an ifor 510 off ebay without checking it and it was rotten!! An ifor (in good/usable condition) will be typically over your budget but you maybe lucky.
