A Pelham/Double Bridle with a nice Coloured Browband, If its a fairly low-key show, your dressage saddle should be ok, but you might get the odd comment, depending on the judge, good luck and enjoy!!

Plain doubles (but can be a rugby pelham not a weymouth and bradoon) are the standard for all ridden showing classes (except working when most are ok). You can also get away with a snaffle if your horse goes better - some judges will be ok some not with this.

If you do riding horse class black jackets/cream jods - show hunter tweed and cream or canary jods. Shirt and tie not stock. Everything should be fairly plain

Dressage saddles are not correct for showing and a lot of judges don't like them. I know people who have been "told off" for showing in dressage saddles. If you have one, you will be better off using a GP. Dark brown tack is also prefered.

i think that is silly if you are told off for a dressage saddle..maybe i should take my hospital notes which state the dressage saddle is the only one to give me enough support to ride in

i have black tack. its only a small show and she is a dressage horse mainly. if the judge doesnt like it ill simply leave the class. only using it as practice for my green horse.

I show in a black dressage saddle. Don't worry. They are judging the horse, not it's tack. I know somebody who has won championships in a black dressage saddle. If there is a ride judge, you might get a comment but there again, you might not.
Just go and have fun. Good luck.

The saddle really becomes an issue if it is a class where the judge rides, as some traditional judges do not like to ride in the more exaggerated dressage saddles. However, as it is a small show, the judge may not ride and you may be asked to do an individual show instead, so the saddle becomes less of an issue.

If I could just correct this please - ladies should NEVER wear black in the show ring...gentlemen only wear black.

And,a tweed jacket for RH classes and blue hat.

Having watched a large show this weekend the entire RH class was turned out in Black jackets - riders who were also competing in the show hunter (on different horses) then changed to tweed. This is the norm in every show I have ever attended
