Bit of a random post but I was wondering what times people ride. I am on a big livery yard which is also a riding school and the YO has competition horses. There are riding lessons all day usually till about 8/9PM with a couple of hours free in the afternoon. We have dog training in the school late two nights a week also. Whenever there is a chance to get in the school in the afternoon the competition horses are always in there so I have no choice but to ride about 9PM most days.
Does anyone else ride this late?

I'm about ready for bed by then lol! :D

I don't have the luxury of a school, but also don't have the worry about somebody else using it, so I up and off whenever I feel like it. I'd hate to be tied to a strict routine as I find life often gets in the way. :)

In the week I ride at 7am, that way I don't have to worry about lessons being in the schools and I rarely see another livery riding :) also means I get my evenings with my OH. Weekends are for hacking and seeing other liveries.

do you only have the one school then? thats the trouble when liverying at a RS/large yard... We are lucky enough to have 2 schools, but I like to ride late afternoon and mornings on weekends

I have done in the past, especially in very hot weather if I couldn't ride early morning. If your happy riding at that time then that's fine, if not either school in a field when its busy or look for somewhere else. Would drive me potty being on a yard that I could only ride at certain times on.

I tend to ride in the week about 1pm after I finish work and before school time. Weekends is more about 9am...I prefer first thing of a morning.

I run out of energy as the day goes on! LOL

I prefer to school / have lessons In the mornings I find it more productive....I have been known to be schooling at 6:30am ... Hacking wise I'll go anytime, before work after work, late evening when ever I fancy, I'm lucky my yard is small 8horses 3 of those not in work and Its very rare someone is in the school when I wanted to use it, the other livery works evenings so we kind of pass, if I found that was the case I personally would have to change yards as I wouldn't be able to keep mine in work with the hours I work .....

I used to ride much, much later than that when I was on livery as it guarenteed me no gawping audience, and the school was very secluded from any houses I could I disturb by being in there.

Now I ride anytime in daylight hours (don't have lights). Whenever I'm free and in the mood, basically!

Love to ride at 9pm, but by that time im rushing to get to bed!
I usually ride in the morning from 8-10 but now the days are lighter i sometimes ride at about 6/7, especially if i have all 4 to exercise, gives them a bit longer out

My horse only goes out for a few hours in the morning so I don't like to make him work in the very few hours he has out, we have two schools, but garunteed someone is always in them. It drives me mad that I can only ride late at night, I don't like hacking with many people about either because you get the idiots that gallop flat out past me.
I feel horrible dragging poor horsey away from his hay late at night but it's my only choice lol

Gosh 9pm is late - I'm normally in my jim jams by then! I find I've got more energy and concentration for riding in the mornings. I've just moved to a huge livery yard, with 2 outdoor and one indoor school and about 45 horses on site.

One of my big concerns about the move was what would happen when lots of us wanted to use the school at the same time. I'm normally on my boy by 8.20am and have only twice (in two weeks) met someone else schooling, and even then, no-one seems to mind if you share the arena.

Weekends, if not competing, I hack out about 9am.

6am in the week - up at 5.15am and 25 min drive to the yard...

W/e I feel I deserve a lie in! So usually between 9am and 10am

I try and ride in the mornings before work as by the end of the day i am always too tired...get to yard for 6/6.30am, feed, muck out then ride by 7.15-7.30am for about 40 mins to an hour :)

Ah it's a nightmare not being able to ride when you want/at normal times! But at least your school is lit so still have the chance to. I usually ride at about 5/6pm for an hour or so, we have a school which not many people use but it's tiny and too deep, but plenty of hacking so tend to do that more over the summer :)

When i am able to ride its usually about 3ish although now its getting lighter when i can get back on it will be about 6/7ish so i can ride both

I ride early in the morning bout half six at weekends sometimes or 4-6 in the week. Can you not ride in the school when the competition horses are in there. When i was on a big yard like this we all used to just shout across to whoever was in there "do you mind if i come in" and it was normally fine. they have to all get used to it if you want to go to shows etc anyway. or ride early.

I always go out early - 6.30/6.45 in summer so I can get a good hour and still get into work before 9. Also means tracks, road and school are all free! doesnt quite work in winter then- when I'm riding in dark in the woods I sometimes think- er why?! or at least the horses think that, so I go a bit later say 7.30.

I normally get to the yard about 6pm ish so then normally ride at 6:15pm (pay the yard to bring my horse in) . . . . Weekends vary :) wish the lighter evenings would stay all throughout the year!!!
