What time to clip

noticed today that Sicco is just starting to grow a longer coat, so wondered, about what time do you clip your horses someone i no is clipping this weekend so is it time to start?
 
Lots of people have clipped already

Personally I wait until I cant get the horse suitably cooled off in a 15 min period after work - ie - I always walk the final 15 mins home from a hack or cool off for 15 mins after a schooling session - if I think the horse cannot cool off without getting cold then I clip

i have clipped my horse twice all ready. first clip was begining of september.second one was begining of october and will now probley do one clip a month till about march /april time.she does grow a very thick coat and it grows very quickly! even though in winter she has 3 thick rugs on!

will only do it when he needs on why o it to him now when im hardly doing anthing!! come half term he will be fully clipped!
 
My horse has only just started getting his coat through so I am going to try to leave it another 2 weeks for it to grow a bit more before clipping. He will then have a bib and neck clip. Hopefully we will be okay until then as I have 2 endurance rides to do...and I don't want him megga sweaty.
 
Ive already clipped winston out fully, including legs!

He gets very hot when ever he gets worked, whether just hacking or schooling. He is allergic to his own sweat so i have to wash him off everytime hes worked.

He is being clipped again on Saturday, its only been 2.5 wks since the first clip! hes such a bloody great bear!!!
 
i,ve got a hairy cob and he is on his second clip today.....plus he had 2 clips in the summer ...........high maintinance.....i have to trim his legs about every 3 to 4 weeks

I clipped shadow 2 weeks ago but she'll need doing again soon, now i have my own clippers it's not a problem but when i was borrowing someone elses i would wait until her winter coat had completely come through.
 
I'm dying to clip mine (she's a polar bear at the minute!) but as we're on vet's orders to walk and trot only, and she could be laid off if something goes wrong, I'm holding off until vet says we can work as normal. I would probably be doing her this weekend if I could, she's ridiculously fluffy and has to be rugged up to her eyeballs after every ride as she has to have a mini bath, she gets so sweaty! If we're still on walk and trot this time next month, I think I'll clip the darned thing anyway!
At my yard (about 10 horses) only one has been clipped, and only because he's in pretty hard work and looked like a small fluffy pony! One more being clipped this weekend.
 
Trike had his first clip about 4 weeks ago, and needs doing again now. Bo had his first of the winter last weekend but he has a much finer coat

Merry done yesterday (behaved perfectly as always).

Lexi is getting done this afternoon (team of fearless individuals and elephant tranqueliser at the ready).

I am hopeing to get away with just 2 clips - one now and one at Christmas. Might need to fit an extra one in November.
 
I'm waiting till mine recovers from his lung infection as I don't want him catching a chill and being exposed to it again, bet I don't end up clipping till november!
