What to do about a bump on the head?

As title- neddy came in with a gash and big bump on his, has halfed in size but still not gone. How long til I get worried?! Anything I can buy to put on it? Thanks in advance

Wash well with saline solution (1tsp salt to pint water) it will go down in a few days.

As GG says, where on his head is the lump? If near his eyes, don't wash with anything that could trickle into his eyes and sting. Be aware that the bony area underneath the lump could be broken. Friend of mine's horse was kicked in the face (they assume) and broke his jaw. It was only picked up after he'd gone off his haylage for a good few days and he went to the vets for diagnosis. They toiok an x-ray not expecting to find much but there was a fracture! Another friend of mine's horse had a kick to his head that gave him a massive nosebleed and caused a permanent bony lump at the injury site. It was quite near his eye and he developed a cataract in that eye as a result of the force of the kick.
