I normally have a moment in my dressage tests when I forget where I'm going. Luckily so far, it has come back to me just in time. I'm sure though it's going to happen sooner or later that I am going to go wrong. If so, am I right in thinking that the horn will be beeped? And then what is the correct thing to do -
a) burst into tears and hurriedly exit the arena
b) start the movement again
c) carry on whilst blushing profusely
d) something else?

I can't have a reader as that just throws me more and I worry that I won't be able to hear them.

Thanks x

I did it that last weekend!!

The judge got out of her car, and said I did not want to stop you as you were doing such a nice test

I then did not know where I was, what I was doing!!!

But then went wrong again!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Got there in the end

swear under your breath... throw your toys out of the pram, then carry on!!! naw, really what I do is mentally go through the test over and over and over again and run it like a video film in my mind. It gets a little easier as you do more.. so I keep being told!!!

Dont worry if you go wrong as the judge will direct you where to start again, just dont get flustered as that can cause you to go wrong again.

Everyone does it, Gareth Hughes even did it at a high profile event a few months ago.

It gets better with Practice as its really nerves that make your mind go blank. Dont use a caller as that is a cop out and you will never learn the tests. Just get out there and do as much as you can and you will soon settle to it. Good luck at your next outing x

We've all done it at some point.........the important thing not to do is panic!
If you don't know where you've gone wrong, the judge will put you right and you pick up from that point.
It is really important not to dwell on the mistake but put it to the back of your mind and ride positively for the rest of the test, or you'll spoil that too. You can beat yourself up after the test but not during!
After all, one error is only 2 marks off but it gets more expensive for another one and elimination for a third.
