After 6 years of various lameness poblems my daughters horse recently had a full body scan that found ringbone, serious side bone problem, kissing spine beginning, a bone spavin in rear hock and the beginnings of arthiritis in both hocks. He has had tildren which didn't seem to do much and 30 weeks of remedial shoeing he is only 9 and still lame.

If the horse is in pain that cannot be controlled do the kindest thing and pts.

If he can be kept happy and pain free and you can keep him let him just be a companion horse.

If you can't keep him for whatever reason please don't sell him unless you know 100% he will be in a home for life as a companion. If this cannot be guaranteed then take responsiblity and pts.

It's a heart wrenching decision especially in a young horse but sometimes the right one to make.

:(

How awful for you, I don't doubt you know the fairest thing to do although its the hardest decision we have to make for our animals.
