MD still hoping to get to HT next Sunday but unsure what to do re. bit adjustment. Had her in a kimblewick for a couple of months now & going well in it.
Hacks out etc. with bit on 'snaffle setting' but riding in field needed dropping down to lower slot, as beastly pony was virtually unstoppable!
Got over wild excitement at riding in field again now & bit back on snaffle setting, with pony cantering, galloping & jumping under full control.
What would you put it on for HT though? Risk normal setting or drop it down to lower slot, as bit late for MD to find out she can't slow down or stop once they've got going! (Pony can be VERY strong & is the kind to keep running until she keels over if she's in the mindset for that sort of behaviour!)

I would drop it down as Baggage (like all ponies) is likely to get excited at the HT. Better safe than sorry IMO. Good luck.

Yes, you're probably right - be a shame for all her hard work to go to waste in the first 30 seconds! lol
We're leaving her in the leather curb which may also turn out to be a huge mistake but if she gets irritated by a chain, she'll probably start playing up then too, so can't win really!
Just going to cross our fingers & hope for the best - stinky little brute (pony not MD!) has never gone round anything clear in its life to date so unlikely to start now - just not running anybody or anything down is about the best we're hoping for really!

I have absolutely no technical or useful knowledge to add, other than to say if it were my (rather similar) pony, I would drop it down, wouldn't risk it on a snaffle setting! Hope it goes well.

I agree, drop it down! Whilst nothing will stop Baggage if she really wants to go, it wouldn't hurt to give MD atleast a semblance of control by using the lower setting.

Good luck to them both, and here's hoping that Baggage behaves!!
