Difficult one here. In the field opposite my hose there are two very tiny and very old donkeys. There are not thin, have trimmed hooves and have water (I think). However, I've been noticing one of them having difficulty walking over the last couple of days in that he steps high at the back (almost like stringhalt), this is not stopping him grazing. So I went to investigate today and found that he has a little rug on (very old one) and it only had one leg strap so they had attached side to the fillet string d-ring and the other side to the leg strap d-ring and as a result his poor little back leg is bald and rubbed. I adjusted this and also adjusted the cross surcingles as they had them the wrong way around (back to back and front to front). Did similar for the other donkey also. I also noticed that the first donkey had rug rubs on his neck/withers which although no broken skin looked pretty sore. they have very matted hair and slightly runny eyes and on the whole look pretty mangy. I sort of know the owners and they are nice people but have no idea about how to keep them although they have had them for several years. I think that they just need a bit of guidance and the donkeys heed a bit of TLC (the little one did little tiny bray to me as I approached bless her). What should I do?
