Hey,
My friend has had her horse out on loan for about 2 years. It was quite hard for her to put the horse out on loan but she felt she was being wasted and wanted her to learn and for someone to enjoy her.
Recently she has been told the loan is coming to an end and instead of being given the 4weeks notice she is being told that the horse will be returned in 2 weeks.
My friend does have quite alot of grazing which she rents but feels it will be hard for the horse to return after her being away and does not want to grow attached again. She is ready to sell her and has asked the people who have her if they would be interested. Their reply was yes but they have taken ages coming back to her, she does not know if they are being honest and she is worried that it will fall through. After emails and phone calls no one has called her back and she feels quite upset about it all. She is prepared to have the horse back and to re-loan but really wanted the people who have the horse to buy her as they came across sincere and loving. She is more interested in a good long term home then the price as she bought the horse as a foal and brought her on herself.
What do you think she should do...keep her and just re-loan, in which case this sort of thing might happen again, or just try and sell her now while she is used to her being away..? She is very keen on the horse and already has three others so would not really have the time for this one....

she is a grey, new forest cross. Very good riding out alone, good in all ways really just had not experienced much so was pleased to loan her out. She has recently competed at shows and even built the confidence of the person who rides her. Although she would be sad to sell her she feels it would be good for her to go otherwise she will just sit in a field and maybe be ridden 5 times a year....

Loaners don't sound that interested in buying the horse. In her shoes, I would phone them and tell them the date on which the horse will be collected, and leave it like that.

I would then sell her on from home.

yes amymay is rite and your friend doesnt want to sound desperate.
if they were that interested they would have contacted her back by now and sorted it out.
if they want to bring the horse back before the 4 weeks then what is the prob,if they cant have her anymore then why would they be interested in buying her ??

thanks everyone - you are all right and I will pass on the details. I know she is keen to actually contact them and ask if they are interested but has also written an email after waiting a couple of days now just saying let me know what time you are planning to drop her off cause she is fed up with waiting for them to reply. I will make sure she does not contact them again unless she has to otherwise you are right, she looks desperate....all sounds a little strange anyhow as they were meant to have her for another year and she believed everything was fine so bit unexpected to suddenely land this on her. She is in the middle of exams too at the moment so pretty stressed...
