Thanks to a motorcycle racing injury sustained a few years ago flairing up, I have discovered that I have nerve damage to the C6/C7 vertebrae in my neck which has been causing lots of problems recently.

I'm lucky enough to have a medical center at work and they referred me for physio, had the second session yesterday and I was told I cannot ride under any circumstances for at least the next month :( As this injury has been dragging on and resulted in me stopping racing altogether last season I really need to get it sorted, so with much grumbling I'm doing what I'm told.

My horse Fred is schooled 6 times a week (1/2 hr per day) now by my lovely YO but I'm looking for things I can do with him from the ground as in all honesty I feel a bit left out!! I can't lunge as the school surface (when it is finally laid) will need to settle so does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks xx

Can you long rein him?
I started long reining to over come a nervous hacking problem (horse rather than me!) and found that i actually really quite enjoyed it and the horse in question now hacks alone so its done wonders for his confidence also.

Sorry to hear about your injury OP:(

If you have access to an indoor you could free school him?
also you could bring him out in hand
& why not try some ground work and work on some natural horsemanship techniques.
