What to do with saddles that shouldn't be used for welfare reasons

I have some old saddles that are not good for welfare reasons - design is out of date etc. I am looking for craft/art/colleges who might like to have the leather from them. Any ideas?

We had two people looking on our local horse fb page. One wanted them to deconstruct for training purposes and another wanted the leather to make hoof pick & knife holders. Perhaps ask your local ones?

I have a couple utterly useless saddles that hide in the attic. Out of sight and out of mind.

Stick them in a local auction that does interior design stuff. … they usually go ( for bugger all money but still they are reused by someone)

I had a farrier who used the leather to make hoof pads, could ask your farrier if he could use them?

My dodgy one went off to someone at a college - they were going to take it apart

Our charity takes them in for recycling if you're in the Leeds area.

The first thing to do is to cut through the webbing that the girth straps are attached to so they can't be used without spending serious money on them. Saves there being any risk because people will people.
