I have an 11.3 sec A mare who is 5yo - she has been out on loan for the past year to a lovely family who had to give her back due to the arrival of their new baby. I have decided to sell her as I don't have a jockey and she is wasted standing in the field. In the meantime I need to keep her in work - have asked loads of people who I know have kids who ride (but don't have ponies) and have had several offers from people to come and ride but no-one actually follows them up - they all say they'll ring to arrange but nothing ever comes of it. Soooooo (and well done if you've got this far

!!) how am I going to keep her in work enough to be able to sell her as a riding pony.??? I wouldn't feel happy for someone to come and try her for their child if she hasn't been sat on for weeks (although she is pretty good for a 5yo) I am too big to ride her myself (5ft 3 and 9st) Any ideas??

hi Maisie.
It's amazing what a bit of lungeing can do! Ours is lunged and long reined. We also walk him out in hand to keep him used to traffic etc, and keep the lbs off.

She can carry me but the saddle is really too small for my humongous derriere!!!!

Have been doing the lunging/walking out on the road thing but really want to keep her under saddle too......

As per the others suggestions really, but would you be able to put her at working livery at a local quality riding school - she would then be worked regularly. People would get to know that she is for sale through the riding school and could have lessons etc on her first.

i have exactly the same problem with a 12.2h.she is 5yo. and i have no jockey. i have advertised a full loan to stay at my yard but so far no takers. i think it is the age putting people of.
