with a long mane?

There is a little local show bank holiday monday but I am growing my horses mane and it is fairly long but not quite long enough for a side/arab plait (The middle part is the longest but he has a really short bottom bit?) and it would make golfball sized normal plaits. I was probably just going to jump in which case no plaiting etc required but I was thinking about possibly entering him in a low key showing class just for experience - not expecting to win anything but I just think I would probably look like an idiot going in with his mane all long. Bearing in mind he is a Thoroughbred. ;)

What do you think I should do? Or is there any other way I can plait etc his mane?

If you make your plaits thinner than normal, you'll end up with quite normal sized ones (rather than golf ball ones) - but just lots of them. I think that will look smarter than not plaiting.

Have fun!

Agree. Skinny plaits in the long bit and fatter ones where his mane is shorter. If you can bear to sew the plaits in rather than use bands then the colour contrast won't emphasise the difference in size.
