what to feed my new horse? advice please

I would like to feed my new horse up a bit. He came from a yard where he was stabled 24/7 and very fit and lean. I've only had him 2 weeks. he is a IRE TB and 7 yr old.

He is now out all day, has ad-lib hay at night and a small feed of chaff & sugerbeet.

as I would like him to fill out abit, should i up his food intake or just wait as see what happens over the next few months of being out at grass. he has plenty of energy but i don't want him to get silly if i feed him more.

If you have plenty of grass, I would see how he goes and review it in a couple of weeks.

Especially as the spring grass is starting to come through now....

thanks, that's what i thought. but wanted to check!

I'm going to use my weigh tape on him so can keep a close watch on his weight.

Do you give him 2 small feeds or 1??? i would give him 2 and just like your doing keep a close eye over the next few weeks. Good luck xx
