TB mare, loses condition at the drop of a hat, sensitive tummy, fussy eater, highly strung and easily stressed!!

Living out 8am - 7pm until 1st May then 24/7 on good grass.

Got to have 6 months off due to knee injury as of now

Currently having HIFI, Ride & Relax & speedibeet twice a day and about 5 slices of good hay. Should i just carry on with that?? Wont eat if I put oil in it, and Alfa A Oil sends her scatty, as does Top Spec & D&H Balancer.

Thanks

I would go for low energy high fibre feed!
Does she loes weight etc throughout the summer???As on good grazing she should need nothing unless you are giving supps then hi-fi etc should be enough on its own!

If she is being rested you could maybe swap the ride and relax for a high fibre cube or something similar, with Hifi and plenty of hay.

But, if she looks good on what she is eating you may find it better to just adjust the levels of what she is currently on.

I'd go for a balancer. The grass will give her the calories but may be lacking in other nutrients which the balancer can provide without supplying any more calories. As she needs to heal, vits, mins and other nutrients are very important and the levels in ordinary hi fibre, low energy feeds will not be enough.

Anything to do with Alfa A sends my TB nutty.
He's just come back into work after six months off. I fed him HiFi and Spillers Conditioning Cubes, worked a treat. Didn't heat him up but kept the condition on him lovely. My gelding is also a fussy eater with a sensitive tummy hence why I try to keep his feed as simple as possible.

Im currently feeding a horse who is lame (was on box rest but unfortunately couldnt hack it so now has very small area in field during the day) and also was extremely underweight, Alfa-A, Outshine and spillers high fibre cubes, and as much hay as he will eat! Hes putting weight on nicely with this, dont know about sensitive tummies though. But to be honest, the diet your horse is currently on has nothing in it that cant be given whilst resting, especially if she has turn out aswell
