I have a welsh section D who i wish to do some competitions on when he is fit and ready. However i'm not sure what to feed him on. although he isn't a dobbin he can be lazy (but on the other hand can be over sensative...silly pony) and finds it hard even when fit to hold stamina. I was wondering if changing his diet would help? I don't want him to turn into a bomb or put on loads of weight just something to give him some presence and a bit of extra umpphhh

He is currently on a handfull of happy hoof because he is out 24/7 and a very god doer.
Any ideas?

You could add some vegetable or sunflower oil, it gives slow release energy, but you would have to be mindful of the amount you gave as it could give weight gain.
Perhaps a lo cal balancer could give him that bit more

Hi I have a sec D just like that!! I feed dengie alfa lite with some Allen and Page ride and relax - this works well for him, The first thing I would do for your's is a good broad spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement, you will often find horse's lacking in minerals and vitamins can be a little lack lustre.

he is being feed happy hoof with a scoop of garlic and vegtable oil. Other than that he's just on grass and occasionally hay.

is there any specific blue chip you recomend? ill look at theb mierals d&h do a pasture block which is specific for horses that are out. that maybe usefull

if he his lazy on what you are feeding what about poping him on a working pencil see if that gives him that little bit more!
