He had a nasty injury to his knee 3 yrs ago which left a lot of permanent scar tissue. (he is now pain free and working well on it btw!) But recently it must have started itching or something because he is scratching it and has managed to lift some of the scabby scar tissue and it keeps weeping.

What would be the best thing to put on it ? At the moment I have been putting wound cream or sudocream but am wondering if there might be something better to try and help soften it so it stops itching ??

my pony was caught up in barbed wire and the wound was left for 2 weeks untouched!!! nasty b*****ds, that was 7 years ago and his scar hasn't been too bad since ive had him, ive owned for 6 years, it goes all the way round his hock, but this year the flies have been opening it up ao i bought aloe vera gel stuff from local horse shop. its working wonders and it was only about £5, its for all sorts of things.

I looked at camrosa - and not that I'm stingy (do anything for my boy) but OMG its soooo expensive for such a teeny tiny tub ! I have some aloe vera gel I use on his chin where he gets 'muzzle sores' - hadn't thought of putting it on his knee for some reason! Good idea Sophie, will try that for a few days see how it goes. If all else fails might give in to the price of the camrosa!

We used aloe vera on a broken knee with great results. The scar became a lot flatter, and the skin went black, rather than pink. We even got some hair regrowth.

Another aloe fan here..... best form though is to just buy a plant ans snap of the leaves and rub that onto the area.... they grow back really well and last for ages!

I would say Camrosa, As helps with scar tissue and repells fly etc at the same time so will help with itching all in one.

If it wasn't weeping i'd say camrosa but the weeping would make me want to check with them first.

It's £10 for the small tub but because it's a gel and oh so sticky it lasts ages. My £10 tub has been being applied twice daily for 2 months and there's still plenty left.

It's removed all the proud flesh form a very old wound on his leg. We now have healthy skin and I am hpoing beyond hope we may get some hair growing back eventually.

I got a price list from them and it was a lot more expensive than £10 per tub! They were saying you have to buy the introductory package which was about £40!

Maybe I'll have another look!
