what to use to stop a horse chewing

One of my horses has an annoying habbit of chewing the inside of he field shelter even though he has access to trees etc, what is best to spread on that is long lasting? I have tried cayenne pepper which works but it doesnt last very long

The cheapest and easiest way is to get a bucket of water mix in some horse muck and paint on. Worked a treat with my mare who turned into a beaver on the new post and rail fencing at the old yard! :D

thanks i'll give it a go, did it last very long? this horse is very intelligent and reverts back to his naughty behaviour when the pepper has worn off, he is the same with electric tape, he knows when its on or off.

Our lad has gone through phases of nibbling on exposed wood in his stables, he loved the mustard we put on to deter him, wasn't phased by tabasco sauce and even 'Daves Insanity Sauce' didn't stop him. Creosote seemed to do the trick though, he left that well alone! :D

one of mine have just started cribbing like crazy since weve changed to very rich new haylage ,hes never done it before so i think his acid in his tummy has gone mad cos hes really grumpy too!
