What to wear confusion

Please could somebody help. I am doing my first ever dressage test soon and am totally confused about what is the correct attire. I have seen stock shirts but will someone please explain what this is. Do you wear a stock with it or is it a combined thing? Sorry for my numptiness but I haven't a clue. Or should I just wear a shirt and tie? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Stock shirts have a different collar to a normal shirt to allow a stock with it, some people compete in one without though and if you're dipping your toe in it wouldn't do any harm.

What type of jacket do you have?

Thank you soooo much for clarifying that. I have a tweed jacket so am thinking I may just wear a shirt and tie. As if I haven't enough to worry about!!! Thanks again.

That's fine I have done a test in what I would wear for showing before.
