Ok ...

so ive finally taken the plunge and got in touch with atherstone hunt, they have given me details of the newcomers day, which i am set on attending!!!

The problem is i have nothing to wear haha ive been told to wear a hacking jacket shirt and tie, so im guessing cream jods and black boots will be ok? should i wear a hairnet or just make sure its up and neat? so what kind of hacking jacket will i need does it really matter? and will a black tie be ok? and last question... does anyone know where i can pick up a cheap hacking jacket? ive been looking on the internet and have emailed and txt a few friends so waiting for replys.

You can really tell i haven't got a clue can't you haha  if you got through all those questions then cookies for you :)

Hacking Jackets you can pick up for around £60 online I think, try Derby house or something? Cream jods and black boots will be fine, and any colour shirt and tie :) Try and wear a hairnet, it does look a lot smarter although I am chief at forgetting mine!! Another thought- any 2nd hand saddlers near you? they are pretty good with jackets. xx

As RosiiPimms says! Pretty much any hacking jacket will be fine, but try and avoid velvet collars! Apart from that, you have absolutely the right idea - have fun

any hacking jacket is fine - try to avoid the velvet collar (they are a pain to clean up when muddy, and are more for showing than hunting)

a blue or cream shirt, and a coloured tie is usually right. Most saddlers that do clothing will have a selection of cheapish ties to go with hacking jackets.

As a total newby to hunting (well, going out as a 10 year old some 35 years ago doesn't count!) am I okay to wear brown boots/chaps? I really cannot justify black ones just for hunting (well, not until I've done it and loved it so much I've got the other dates in my diary...he he he) I'm also planning to wear a stock rather than a tie - is that going to be okay? I'm still working on the tweed jacket....
