When the Osteopath/Physiotherapist etc. says to you gentle work for your horse for the next few days, what does that mean to you?

I took Bodey on an hour or so hack today with just a bit of trotting (to get out of cars ways), on a long rein. With Mum on Badger the Fjord, so it had to be slow. I thought that counted as gentle work.

Yep, Id say an hours hack, mainly walk and a bit of trot

Just had a bit of treatment on his left shoulder and leg hind leg. He has those pad things on that pulse and had stretches done. The Physio thought it wasn’t riding related, more likely playing in the field. She wasn’t overly worried about it.

Frank is seen every 6 months or so as he gets wonky behind, his pelvise down on the left- approx a 6 monthly occurence which I pick up quite quickly now as he goes a bit disunited when jumping. and a couple of other stiff patches)

He has next day off.
then if there is anything in the saddle area I long rein him round the road for half hour/45 mins. (he walks out better on long reins than under saddle too and it gives me a chance to watch him move)

next day I will hack out, walk and trot bout 45 mins
then spend the next couple of days on longer hacks, more trotting the odd short canter (I like to check I can get both strike offs)
then so day

5/6 I will school gently but tend to do big circles and not ask for too much. (we have a field so can do nice big circles)

I normally try not to jump for a week to 10 days.

So I would count as what you did as light work, the key is just not asking for circles/proper school work for a few days as they might be a bit stiff.
