Towards the end of this year/ early next year, I hope to look for a new Section D Gelding. My last lovely boy was of Llanlanarth lines which is a true traditional type, quite small, I dont want anything over 14.2hh.

Have any of you Welshy lovers got any ideas, I also fancy another palomino.....love em

seen a lot of the 15.2hh upward ones at shows, i love the bigger ones though

My Welsh D filly is the traditional sort and about 14.1hh/14.2hh. The stud I bought her from are starting to breed the creams and palominos as presumably they're more popular. They have a stunning dark-ish palomino stallion and a cream colt who must be rising 2yrs.

I have a 15.2hh one who has Vernal lines mainly. I guess the only way is to look around! I wouldnt worry terribly about breeding though TBH, nice ones can also come from non-amazing bloodlines :P

I have a Derwen/Nebo bred mare, only 14.2hh, very small and neat with a pretty pony head and a big arse (

). I think current vogue is for bigger, upwards of 15.2hh, and for unusual colours like palomino, golden dun and cream.

i think people want bigger section d now 15.2hh upwards that are not that cobby, my boy is about 14.1 and he is going to be really chunky but all the girl at my yard say he is like a section c, as all the section d they see about are more leggy and finer than what i called a proper section.

My boy was a LLanarth palomino. Out of Deicin Miranda and llanarth Lord Nelson Le braint lines. Loved him to bits and he did everything with me until I had to have him pts.

Proper Welsh D with muscled up body and quality head. 14.2. Not keen on the enormous ones I see now at top shows, so I guess they are the ones in vogue. Lose their 'poniness' I think when they are so big.
