sorry its a small image! i saw this and i have cut it out of the image because i know the people who own the horse. sadly, i cant show you what the mouth piece is.

Ok, here goes.

1) the sliding mouthpiece is there to stop the horse getting its tongue over the bit. That explains the ring at the corners of the lips

2) it actually exerts poll pressure (unlike a hanging snaffle) as the rein is 'fixed' by the hoops.

3) curb chain is there as you really ought to use one with anything that has leverage over the poll.

It's probably most like a kimblewick in action I would say, at least in the way it exerts poll/curb pressure.
The mouthpiece could be absolutely anything of course!
