I'm looking for some long riding boots for competition only (SJ). I have a budget of around £200 from xmas money. Im 20, so this will be my first pair, as i normally wear gaiters and jodphur boots.
What type do people recommend? Zip up or pull on?
Im size 7-8, with slightly bigger calves (my older sisters boots wont zip up).

Any ideas? Thanks a lot

I always think zip ups look smarter but did have quite a bit of trouble when I bought a pair in August. I purchased the Mark Todd Leather Competition boots - £120 and wore them for riding in the school only. 2 weeks later the zip had bust, so returned them and replaced, 2 months on, same thing happened again so got a refund and have now purchased a pair of English Gaiter Company long boots. They are beautiful leather and a very good fit and not much more than the Mark Todd's - £150. I am now keeping these for competing only just to be on the safe side, but do reccomend. Most boots do have wide options so can't see that being a problem. Ariats are normally £250, but would also reccomend. Hope you find what you're looking for.

I have the equitector long zip up boots - they look really smart, even after 3 years of hunting in them! They are really comfortable, they clean and polish up well and the service from the guy at equitector was brilliant.
