My older cob has hock arthritis and has had injections etc. We have taken him barefoot and rebalanced his feet, which seems to be helping as well. He does need to be in over night as we are on heavy clay but does have daily turnout. What are the best boots/ magnets etc for him to wear in the stable over night. Has anyone used magnetic hock boots? Alternatively back on track have a hock boot, presumably that would help him hocks keep warm over night. He is on a good joint supplement. Thank you.

I found magnetic ones useless... the back on track ones would you be your best bet. I also found devils claw very good at helping with stiffness.

Bioflow are amazing. They have special inlaid magnets that are configured in such a way they are superior to any others on the market.

My horse wore them overnight for 14 or 25 hours for eight or ten years in winter and during the day in summer.

You need to introduce them gradually but they really helped keep legs down and warm.

You can probably buy second hand on ebay. But Bioflow used to do abraded in service with old boots giving you new ones for half price ir something similar. My took years to wear out.

@paddi22 may I ask which of the back on track boots you’d recommend, please?

I’ve been umming and ahhing about them this week.

I guess not the ‘no hole’ ones. But they then seem to have regular ones with a hole and the royal ones that look more padded?

Similar to OP I have a teenage cob who has jock arthritis. All under control and treated with arthimed. In borderline light/medium work according to NRC and feeling fabulous, but I’d like to keep it that way! He’s stabled overnight. He previously had a pair of lightweight fleece wraps to keep the joint warm but just debating if something ‘more’ would be better.

And may I ask how you found the sizing? By height he should be a M but his legs are chunky-ish.

Thank you!

The Back on Track hock boots with the hole plus the Back on Track quick leg wraps, which help to keep the lower hind leg warm and to keep the hock boots from slipping down.

She has bi lateral hock arthritis diagnosed in 2017. The combined Arthramid + steroids jabs have been a game changer, she is 17yo now. I’ll still pop the hock boots + leg wraps on if she has to stand in for any length of time.

I've tried equistreamz, mojo, magnetix therapy bands and hock boots. They made zero difference, during the winter I just feed devil's claw, which I've had great results from.
In what form do you buy it please I have seen powder, root and liquid I'm currently feeding no bute but was going to opt for just feeding the devils claw.
