What type of saddle?

My 4/5yr old mare has outgrown her saddle and is desprate for a new 1. I have been told different things most people and have said to get a synthetic saddle e.g.wintec, until she stops growing instead of spending loads of money on a nice leather saddle that she will grow out of!

What do you all think?????

Can you get a used saddle at your local saddlers? You might be able to part-ex the one you have?

I have tried and there arent many good saddlers round here they are all expencive and mine isnt really worth that much

what about a treeless saddle?

Other than that I'd buy something synthetic, the Wintec ones are good.

Treeless saddles are great, but the rider has to be very balanced (not saying your not OP!

) or the rider's weight can cause pressure spots on the horse's back.

A cheapish wintec (even a second hand one until your ned has finished growing) would likely work well.

They have some really good priced wintecs on equestrian clearance (and no I don't work for them I just think they are really good) I think the cheapest is about £150, they have the changeable gullets so could grow with your horse and you would probably get a big chunk of that back if you resell on Ebay later

I have this problem with my little cob who is 3 and has a huge amount of growing and filling out to do. I didn't want to be changing saddles every few months or have something not fitting well.

I bought a treeless Barefoot London - and am delighted with it. I also use it on the old clydesdale who goes better in it than I have ever known him to.

I made sure I bought the special pad and have never looked back. Saddle, pad, cover, dressage girth and leathers with postage was £550 so didn't beak the bank.

Takes a little getting used to - about 20 mins for me and I cannot see me changing from treeless for my general hacking and schooling saddle.

I may later buy a specialist showing saddle, but if I can get something suitable in treeless will favor that.

Very light, very comfortable and I can hop off one horse and immediately pop it on the other and off I go again.
