Hi there - I have a part bred welsh (dam is a section a and sire was a friesian)

I know I can show her in p/b classes but would she come under any other type??

She turns 3 next month and stands at around 13hh now

Obviously she would be fully trimmed/plaited mane/plaited pulled tail! What tack would be most appropriate? At the moment she is just in hand being a baby still :) first 2 pics are from last week and the one of her moving is last summer

Thanks in advance

PB is not a type as such, you need to show in these classes as something other than simply a pb , if that makes sense!!

I would turn her out as a pony of hunter type, she is a bit on the chunky side but there would be nothing else for her, she could make a decent WHP in the future, a plain brown bridle with a simple snaffle and flat noseband or you could use a filly slip if preferred but I think at 3 a proper bridle looks more workmanlike, obviously trimmed up and plaited, try not to encourage too much knee action when you trot her up, practise to see how she shows her movement best aiming for plenty of ground cover without the knees coming up too high.

Thankyou for that reply :)

I meant part bred welsh classes and was thinking hunter type but being so little I wasn't sure if they'd suit her! WHO classes when she's older I think would suit her down to the ground as the little menace has a real pop on her - used to jump 5 bar gates when she got bored :o luckily she's grown out of that habit though!

Plain browband and decent thickness cavesson noseband you would recommend then?

Yup only needs to be flat on a pony with a pretty head like hers- a bit of width to it is good but unless you like the style you don't need to go crazy. Plaitted leather browbands or raised leather browbands are also both in if you like.

Thankyou that's what I was thinking :)

Only just moved to a totally new area but have been told there's a local show at the end of this month so may take her along to that!

I don't know! But with that head and look about her I am sure she will do well in the ring, looks like she has real presence :)

Ditto I'd turn out as a hunter pony - she's plenty big enough :p. I think she'd look nice with a plaited browband.

section a cross Frisian wow that is a very interesting combination!

but i think has made a very useful cracking little pony hope you have grand fun with her! :)
