As title really! What was the best/proudest moment you've ever had with horses?

Excuse me for not being able to think of one, i'll post when i've narrowed it down

Getting my own horse as a 30th birthday pressie and being able to ride a pure bred imported egyptian stallion from Cairo.
Also seeing my horse's face light up when he sees me and shouts at me.

Dont own a horse, and one of my main proud thing would either me galloping on this horse I hadnt rid before - let alone ever galloped before! And when faced with a tractor and horsebox on the road. She didnt batt an eyelid

Nick.

When my mare passed her grading with the highest temprement mark of the day, and highest loose jump mark of the day, both 9/10.

When my filly finished in the top four of her age group for the Futurity Young Horse Evaluations and scored two 9/10's for her foal evaluations.

Coming second at a PC hunter trial on a friend's horse i'd ridden 3 times in my life. (Let's forget the fact that he is a complete star and probably would have done better going round on his own, without me bumbling around on top

)

My first and only homebred winning her yearling class at her first county show against 7 other lovely yearlings, was sooo proud

Recently when Genie got moved up from 6th to 2nd in a cob class after her individual show. There were some LOVELY cobs in it, and although she's won classes before, this to me was better as we got moved up so far in such a strong class.

Competing in a barrel race/weaving poles competition in Tennessee and getting quite a good time despite being a newbie and losing my stirrups on the barrel run.

Galloping on the beach in Spain

Any time I do anything out of my comfort zone and being pleasantly surprised, jumping higher, getting a young horse going well, getting a nice comment from a very hard instructor, small things like that matter to me.

Most proud probably jumping her somewhere around 3ft 9 - 4ft (not massive but she's a very small horse- 14.3hh) for the first time, I didn't think we'd make it and we did!

and when I decided at last minute to go sj instead of showing and won both my classes when i'd not taken her out jumping much at all.

Jumping that 4 foot fence the other week

The buzz and confidence I got from that. And the feeling of achievement. I can't beat it

Sooo sooo proud of my boy, and myself TBH.It was the first time I thought we might have deserved the chance we had to go to the worlds. He held it together in the dressage, in REALLY tense atmosphere, and I must have been nervous, when a year before we were scoring in the 30 and 40%'s not being able to stop bucking and cantering, yet a year on, with very little training or events really we managed it. 9th/21 at that level isn't a disgrace, and the other phases we actually did better in, but the dressage was such a big thing, as he has always been good XC.
Also this one:

Going to first dressage on pony that was 'temperamentally unsuitable to ride' having had no professional help with him.

Yup, mainly Pip...can't think of much else

but I am always proud of babies at their first shows etc.

Hmm...doesn't sound like much, but the moment that always sticks in my head is jumping my old 11.2hh section A over 2'9, especially as when I first started riding him he would cat jump everything and didn't really get it. Only made the poor bugger do it once though

My proudest monent was when i fell off in the forest, not the falling off but my beautiful mare galloped off all i could see was her arse and two stirrups flapping in the distance , the first thing that goes through your mind is s**t she is going to run home and gallop across the roads killing herself and other people , so i did my two tone whistle and she stopped , put her head up looked around then realised I wasnt with her she turned saw me in the distance behind and galloped back to me , stopped dead in front of me and waited for me to get back on PHEW It was then I realised how much of a bond we have together and I can say that is and will always be my proudest moment as I love her so much xxxx bless you kendra

My proudest and probably happiest was when i won a 3ft hunter trials after being out of cast for a week after breaking my ankle. It was riding the horse that broke my ankle as well.
After hobbling around on crutchss for weeks i thought i wouldnt be able to even get round, when the results went up and i saw i won i cried! haha. Probably doesnt seem that amazing to others but it was an amazing day!

Some lovely stories so far. For me the following:

Watching my horse out in the field for the first time after his colic surgery in March 2008 and thinking how handsome and well he looked and feeling proud that he had battled on considering how close he came to losing his life. Then at his first proper comeback show early this year, winning a jumping class.

With my other horse, coming 3rd in a jumping class against many BSJA horses using it as a warm up for the subsequent classes and also winning best light/middleweight class at another show.

think i have narrowed it down to 2 !
1st one
Pic992.jpg

my daughter aged 4 with are homebred foal

my second sorry no photos ! but was winning the championship with my sisters section c mare inhand at south of england had big tears in eyes and totally forgot what i was doing when they handed me rossett !

Getting my horse as a christmas after working to ride him for 2 years. such an achievement.

then hacking the nutter for the first time, and him being an angel
smile.gif

Getting 4th place at Shelford ODE, had my three daughters with me, so day should have been complete, but youngest decides to upstage me by announcing "I need a wee", promptly dropping pants in-front of secretaries tent, and virtually on Oliver Townends feet!!!

Taking my youngster over his first ever trotting poles
grin.gif

The first time Dylan made a noise at me before I actually walked round the corner of his stable.
The first time I sat on him after almost 4 months box rest - and he was an angel
smile.gif
my friend was there and she said, "if horses could grin ... I think he'd be doing it"
Any time someone tells me how good he looks
When I was out to assist on a hack with our old YM; Dylan was arsing around and one of the women told me she wished she could sit on a horse the way I did (although personally I felt I was clinging more than anything else lol)

The day my "cant jump, wont jump"15,3 ponyclub horse decided it was time to win somthing, even if it was only a Chase me Charlie.Oh he won alright, and with plenty of scope left. That was over 30 years ago but I still havnt got over the shock of him clearing Five foot three, his own height.

Jumping the only clear round out of 60 odd enteries in the second round of the area PC open SJ (i think it was about 3ft9 - 4ft). Especially as I was on probably one of the youngest horses there (6 yo) and I had produced the horse in question myself and been through hell with him. Plus the biggest show i'd been to before was a fairly small local show. Nearly wet myself when I saw the actual arena (i'd never seen anything like that before) let alone seeing what I was going to have to jump and couldn't believe that i'd been asked onto the team. Very very proud moment when I crossed the finish line :-)

Lovely post by the way. Great to here all the nice stories.

The time we won a showing class. We spent a long time picking up 6th place rosettes, because there were 6 in the class and the day we won is engraved in my heart. she was so good because she previously was so stressy and naughty (giraffe impressions, pulling, uncooperative) and that day she was a dream.
we havn't done it since, but we are still work in progress and now we show without giving her calmers. So we'll get there. Star is 12 now so we might be ready in time for veterans

Mine is quite boring in comparision.

My proudest horsey moment was last week and it was being able to go out on a hack on my own on my new ned after crushing my leg, having 9 operations and almost having it removed. I was out of the saddle for a year and lost my nerve but it felt so good to be out again.

I was in tears when I got back I was so proud and happy.

On an ex-rescue and possibly most frustrating 14.2 I'd ever owned. We'd had a really bad day with him taking the miccy and generally being a pain in the BN and Newcomers at the area show. In shear frustration of he will get round a set of jumps today I put him in the Fox - he only jumped double clear and won it - first double clear he ever jumped too
smile.gif

A few weeks ago when me and the Murphster went to our first jumping show (after I fell off in the warm up at a show a few weeks earlier and majorly knocked my confidence). We hacked there and he was an angel, I did the first clear round and then my friend got on and did her first ever clear round - Murphy totally looked after her and she got her very first rosette, then I did a little jumping class and came 4th
grin.gif

TBH I do have many, many proud moments with Murphy, he's such a little super star
