I was just thinking about the one and only show I've ever taken Leah to, where we got 3rd place in the Best Veteran class, and how proud I was. Wondered what everyone else's proudest moments were? The reason I was so proud of Leah that day was because, obviously, we won a rosette(!) and everyone had been telling me not to get my hopes up and expect her to win anything because "she's a funny looking old mongrel, the judges aren't going to be impressed by her".

So I was so pleased to prove them wrong! The judge thought Leah was in really good condition for her age.

Also, Leah behaved so well - she's such a nervous dog it took me a long time to finally decide to take her to a show, because I feared she'd be so stressed and hate it so much, but she was actually really good. I wouldn't say she was relaxed as such, but she wasn't unhappy or stressed and she was very friendly to the other dogs and people. I can't wait to take her to another show this coming summer.

See, most of mine involve Henry stopping doing something naughty OR were closely followed by him doing something naughty...

Passing the BH test with Bodo in November when a year earlier, (with the help of an underconfident handler
tongue.gif
) he was a lungey big arse who could not be trusted around other dogs, bikes and cars.
I hope to take his sister through it later this year.

With D, was getting second out of four in a veteran class - no real biggie to some, but it was a very well respected judge, she broke her leg as a puppy but still gaited well and she beat two dogs who had been very successful in their heyday.

The way I see all my dogs react around other people and especially children makes me proud and they have all been a credit to their breed.

ooooh I thought of one! The farm open day last year - most unfairly I made him wear a t-shirt with our logo on it and then attached a collecting tin to his harness

He was a star, he met dozens and dozens of people, from tiny little children to their grandparents and was so well behaved, standing quietly while I spoke to people, sitting to meet the children and shaking paws so often I'm amazed they didn't fall off! I was very proud of him that day
smile.gif
He also collected lots of cash - all the children wanted to put money in the doggy's tin

When Skye came back to me when I fell over last week. She had every opportunity to run off but she didn't. I was soooooo proud of her.

With Jess, it was when she was part of the winning team at the British Flyball Championships last summer.

For Beau---well I am always proud of her 'cos she is just a perfect dog.

My proudest moment with Tikka has to be the night she literally saved our lives .

It was a saturday night, hubby and I and the boys all in bed sound asleep, I had woken up to tikka growling and starting to bark, I had told D to get up and see what she was growling at
blush.gif
.
I was half asleep when I heard D on the phone to the fire brigade, at this point I thought I was dreaming, only to be woken properly by D telling me to get up and get the boys up , The van was on fire ... ( his break down van which had 2 Acetylene gas cylinders in the back of it ) . I jumped out of bed and grabbed the boys, looked out the window to a ball of fire .... At this point I really didn't want to go past the van ( this was our only way out ) . I tried to remain calm for the boys sake, Ran as fast as I could with Little C in my arms and T behind me . Tikka was also behind me running along with us .

Our whole area was in an exclusion zone set up by the fire brigade and police. We live in a rural area, There is 10 houses on the busier A road to the front , All these houses had to be evacutated , 15 mins had passed since we left the house and an almighty bang and explosion was seen , looked up and seen one of the cylinders go above the houses

. 5 mins later the other one exploded .

Anyhoos to cut a long story short, Tikka I believe saved us from what could have been a different story today . For one of the cylinders had gone the opposite direction, according to the fire brigade it would have went straight through the house as they can go through concrete walls .

Just happened to find this pic and made me alittle watery eyed

Hubby lost nearly 20k worth of tools, generator ect , His fishing gear and his wallet with £200 or more was in it, Not only was the van destroyed and all his tools, but the boys bikes, My little rover was sitting and had melted the back of it, Insurance company also claimed it as a write off

That was going to be mine too.... Boss made me proudest the day we brought my sonback from the hospital, we didn't know what to expect but he had a sniff and blew on his head and then looked at me with a happy face and a waggy tail, chuffed to bits with him I was!!

Having Otto, the dog I was told would never be able to go off the lead let alone work, off the lead at a shoot. Having him find a wounded bird that had been missed and having him retrieve it back to hand. Then walking with him off the lead, at heel, back to the game cart to hand in 'his' bird

The first time my rescue Lab, who had been terribly badly treated and was terrified of all people, bounded up to a complete stranger on a walk (stranger to her, friend to me) - wanting to be best friends, just like any Lab normally would. Tail wagging in greeting, no nervousness - I almost cried..

Col that is such an amazing story, she really is a dog in a million, what a lucky escape you all had x

And thanks so much for posting that pic, has really cheered me up, hoping against hope he will be back to his handsome, happy, hairy self before too long.
