What was your ultimate 'dream horse' as a child?

My dream horse was arab or arab Xs. but now im into welshies. Do like the foresters but I like pretty heads so welshies prefered...
My dream horse was Black four whites and a blaze and I bred my first foal last year just like that... hoping he will be my WHP later on....

I just wanted a white one and a black one (not that fussy really)! Preferably with long manes!

Our first horse was white and horse second one was black! Both M&M types, so we let their manes grow long!

With the white one, the dealer rang us and said she had something we may be interested in - i just trotted him round a menage and over a pole, and said i wanted him.

With the black one, we walked into the barn at the dealers, her head popped over the door and i said "i want that one" (not in a Little Britain voice!!!)! Turned out she was perfect for us, so we bought her.

Sorted!

Since then we've got a bay and a chestnut too.

Milton, Shantih the arab or Thowra the Silver Brumby LOL

Sadly 2 were fictional and one was a bit too expensive!

I like real horses now, ones that exist.

The Queen's horse Columbus that Mark Phillips used to ride. A lovely big grey that could jump all those big xc fences. I had a grey 12.2hh welsh mountain that could go like the clappers round a hunter trial course I had my own little dream horse.
Now I have a big horse but we dont do xc and she's bay not grey

my 'dream horse' was a family friends arab x gelding called Bobby! Since the moment i saw him i loved him. When i was leaving school i remember telling a girl that one day i was going to have Bobby..... and 3 years ago i bought him

My dream horse was Champion The Wonder Horse.....it didn't as I didn't get him...however I did get others who are just as terrific.

lol I had a pink and purple phase too when I was about 13.

It was so hard to get a hold of anything other than Blue and Red back then, I remember getting over excited about finding loads of purple stuff at HOYS and coming back dressed head to toe in it

i wanted Milton.. if im perfectly honest.. then i wanted a shire then i wanted a big Black TB.

I got a grey grade A on loan
a psychotic ID cross on load
and my very own Big Bay Thoroughbred!

I never lusted after any horse as a child. i was very lucky to have some fantastic pc ponies on loan and with each one was quite sure that I had the best pony in the world!

This lady at our yard had a gorgeous bay that was jumping huge fences (they weren't that huge but as we had never had horses that were that into jumping it seemed huge to me!) and I used to follow her around like a puppy and ask to bring him in from the field for her.
We found out she was selling him and I begged my mum to buy him. There was no way we could afford him, but then sadly my Grandma died and left me a little bit of money which mum used (along with a loan) to buy me him.
He taught me loads and loads and I was devastated when he had to be PTS.
This is us about 5 years ago at a 3'9" hunter trial in Ketton.

I wanted a 16hh black fresian stallion
laugh.gif
Yeah.. Like that came true!! My welsh cob X and welsh sec d are even better though - in the near future looking to bred from both of my girlies - me and my mum have already decided on the stallion - dun and he's HOT!

FAscinating! I love hearing about people's childhood dream-horses and what has changed... although isn't it surprising how many of us managed to get our dream?

I read a book about the Godolphin Arabian when I was about 7 or 8 (it was called 'King of the Wind' or something like that)and that was my dream-horse: a beautiful fiery chestnut Arab stallion!

No prizes for guessing what I now have....

Ketton... As in Ketton, in Rutland? If so I know which XC course you're talking about! I lived in Ketton from 1996-2002

I'm still a kid, but when I was younger I didn't want horses!!

I only got into them when my mum bought a nutty TB
smile.gif

I wanted King William

When I was little I wanted a skewbald and a dun. I've had the skewbald so still need to have a dun. I also wanted a push button jumping machine which I did have but sadly he isn't here anymore.

I wanted something that will take me round Badminton...and tbh I still do!! The dream hasn't gone, for as long as i can remember I've been saying 'One day I will go round Badminton.....even if i'm 50!!' I havn't got the that horse yet but i don't think the dream will change for some time yet!!!

Before I had my own ponies I wanted a 13.2 bay gelding, didn't care about breed but in my mind he was a very general RC type, nothing flashy - I had very simple taste! In reality I'd have almost anything and when I got my first pony - a 12.2hh fluffy grey mare she was perfect to me!
grin.gif

I went through phases of liking different types but I'm now very much a mare-person and love welshies - all but one of mine have been at least part-bred welsh and the exception was a nightmare!

Really my first "dream" has never come true but I've had some very special ponies that I wouldn't change for the world and they were my dream at the time
smile.gif

I wanted to own "Shanti" from that series of horsy books -it was a chestnut arab! Then I wanted a piebald after reading the series "Jill and her ponies". I was brought up in Italy you see so to me Britain was just all about riding to school on your pony and gymkhanas!!
Then I started inventing show names for a horse I would have by using the catalogues of flowers that used to come in the post-my favourite was Texas Flame (a rose!!!!

) and I was going to ride my horse off into the sunset! I was quite into the idea of being a cowgirl!

I wanted Kia-ora the little bay nf x welsh I used to ride or a chestnut with a white face, four white stockings and blanket spots, or Geoff Billingtons horse Otto
