What was your worst/best or scraiest horse experience? What was your worst fall, happiest moment or scariest. My worst fall resulted in fracturing the tail end of my spine called the coxycs ( thats spelt wrong i know)
My most memorable was going into the field, my mare was lying down, but i was able to lie against her and she didn't get up. I felt that showed alot of trust. It was a really hot sunny day to. Just perfect.

Worst and best was being attacked by a German Shepard whilst hacking, really frightening and my mare ended up with 7 bite wounds, but the fact she didn't bolt and looked after me showed we had the most amazing bond (which was kind of nice in a weird way).

Well I would have to say my worst fall was when I was about 15 - SJing and my horse went to take off and did not quite make it as he was looking at his mate in the other ring!
So off I went into all the fences, Sharday did a front flip over the fence and landed on me which I broke both my knee caps, have a pin in my knee - broke my nose/Arm and Colar bone.
Not good.

I also had quite a bad one with my old old horse, was riding in through Kirtlington Park cantering down hill and my horse's foot went down a rabbit hole and he went straight down.
Lucky enough I was fine apart from being winded slighty and the horse was fine apart from a cut on his leg.

Scariest.........being hit by a car out hacking.
mad.gif

Happiest........knowing we didnt die
grin.gif

Worst..... being bucked off by my fizzy shire x and suffering whip lash. All in front of the stable kids!!
blush.gif

Best...my first ever rosette after taking up riding again as an adult!
grin.gif

My worst is current, a woman from the villages two horses have got out 5 times in just a few weeks in the middle of the night and always end up at my house.

Having a road traffic accident and a two year law suit, (no-body hurt) just a lot of sillyness.

Being sued when a visitor in my garden got kicked by my horse despite being told to stay out of the way.

Best moments are really childhood memories when I used to compete, I love looking back at photo's and thinking what a lovely childhood I had.

Only once has my mare allowed me to come in the stable and cuddle her when she was laying down and that will be a life long memory

Worst - riding YO's son's psychotic QH who for no apparent reason did the hugest buck ever as we quietly trotted on a hack. Last thing I saw was his ears as I went straight between them. Took me a few secs to come back round again. No-one believed me about the buck until he did it a week later with a client. He wasn't ever used in the RS again.

Best - winning my first ever red rosette for an apple bobbing race on ex race horse. Kind of cheating but I didn't care

ok, my scariest was on Belvoir. Me is issy (csd) were on a hack and trotting down this path, belvoir suddenly bombed off, i couldnt stop so tries turning onto the fence
tongue.gif
what i hadnt noticed was there was a tree about 20 metres away from where i tried to turn him, of course, he went beside the fence but carried on, a Huge branch was low and i ducked down and basicly clung onto his legs so i didnt get my head chopped off or fall, then i finally managed to stop lol.
worst fall was where i was riding belvoir bareback down to the field, a bird flew out, he spooked and i slid of the side and broke my wrist.

Happiest moment when i went clear SJing at ODE with belvoir who is renound (sp) for stopping

and most memorable was falling into the water jump in the freezing cold winter and then having to carry on a hack freezing cold!!! lol
and good memorable moment when i was jumping, about the 3rd time at the new riding school ( i was about8/9) and the instructor was putting it up 1 hole so it was like 2'6, my dad shouts out TOP TOP so the instructor put it on the top which was about 3' and to me, then was quite big as i had never jumped more than 2'6 lol and i jumped it really nicely apaently!!

sorry, that was a bit of a ramble and very self indulgent!

my worst experience was falling of Tory into the fence which had barbed wire running through it
crazy.gif
was in shock for a while and didnt realise what hurt for ages,: it was only when i got home my mum saw i had split my ear (you can still see the scar across it), i also had a gash on my shoulder that needed several stitches, i have a complete phobia about barbed wire now,

it got me an A in my Physics GCSE though
grin.gif
and at least pony was fine

my best experience was taking Hector in his first XC, he did the open as anything smaller than that he wouldnt bother with and i have never ben so scared in my life as he did it as if he was still steeplechasing, but had the best time
grin.gif

Two worst ones... finally losing my lovely Liam to a broken Navicular bone and our foal being stillborn last year.
frown.gif

Happiest moment has to be riding my first ever Advanced Medium test (although not placed). Others happy moments are watching Gen with Mike competing.
grin.gif

Scariest was a few years ago when the horse I had bolted, crossing the A4 and jumping a hedge with me. How we lived I dont know!

Two worst....first mare rearing & spinning on the road, unable to stop her go forwards or backwards & had to get a random passerby to put a hand on her so I could get off....very wobbly legs

Worst accident was on same mare on sponsored ride - first wide open space she took off at a rate of knots bucked three times - came off on the third...she stood on my chest & I dislocated my shoulder..(I heard it pop back in though as I sat up)...I was a bit drunk on hot whiskey so kept riding for an hour until I slowly started to turn green & was told probably best to dismount!! (bought a back protector fairly soon after that one!)

Best experience - TODAY!! Winning my first ever proper competition on my boy Sid - Riding Club show, we had a lovely double clear & got a lovely big rosette & what is hopefully the start of our silverware collection!

Scariest - being bolted with and colliding with a tree, resulting in having my face rearranged (my hat saved my life).
Worse - when my beloved pony had to be pts, it was so unexpected and I still feel to this day I don't totally know what was wrong and that I didn't get to say a proper goodbye.
Best - Achievementwise Winning the London Trophy, Lucy Oldfield Trophy in one year and recieving the Huge Auger Trophy for having the most points of any member of a London & SE RC for that year when I was a teenager. Otherwise its watching foals be born and cuddling up to any of my wonderful horses.

Cant remember how I fell off, but fell off, lost feeling from head down for 4 days, then had pins and needles for another 2, hypothermia, and had to have a tube so I could wee. THAT was the most traumatic thing.

Tore ligaments from neck, and now have start of arthritus in four of my vertabre.

And I STILL think that it is fun to jump over coloured sticks for a hobby! We are all mad!

Saying that it did take me 3 years to regain my confidence so I could.

Scariest - being chased as a kid by a big black horse can't remember his name, i have never run so fast in all my life it was horrible, he had a bad reputation and i didn't realise he was out, i will nerver forget that and it still sticks in my mind
and my pony bolting, he did it lots!! ive been through hedges, across main roads the lot
Worst - being told Lottie was unrideable and would proberbly have to be pts within a year and when one of my ponys was rushed to the vets and i was told there was only a 10% chance she would pull throu (she did)
Happiest - proberbly when i was given my first pony as a surprise christmas present, but there have been lots, but that was proberbly the start of them all
Hx

worst - nealry having my arm chopped off by a plough blade while falling off a horse

Best - the horse i currenlty ride connie - going across country was perfect (part from me falling off) she tried her heart out

scariest/worst-when Star worked out how to properly buck instead of just kicking out a leg. Every time i tapped him(even just a small flick from a schooling whip) he had me off the little whatnot.

best-when he stopped bucking(well when i could sit them!) and started to really come together and work properly in an outline afer months of going nowhere
grin.gif

worst would probably be when i first got my 4yr old 148. and i STUPIDLY decided i would ride him bareback from the field. I mean he was quiet but not that quiet. My friend patted him on his bum and it spooked him, he took off and i couldnt hold so bailed out but kept hold of the rope and ended up getting dragged on my belly. shreaded my hips, stomach, arms and legs. i was just covered in blood....wasnt very nice

best would have to be with the same pony, coming 2nd in the pony of the year grand prix

Wort.....being munched by scary munchy horse resulting in ffractured collar bone

Scariest....seeing Bert impailed through the hoof on sheep fencing and being able to do nothing about it but watch him panic and make it worse..(only went through the horn though son no damage done)

Best....every time I ride or even just spend time with him, even the bogging off and bucking!

Worst, seeing my OH get kicked and I couldn't prevent it- not quite as scary as finding him collapsed outside the field (he ran after being kicked) and thought he was dead
shocked.gif

And getting bucked off into a barb wire fence by Septre during a lesson.
mad.gif
I slashed my ear open but didnt realise and wanted to get back on!

My mum finding Gypsy down in the field last August, thinking she was dying. Turned out she had a hoof abcess, scary few hours though.

Best- the relif after Septre and Sirrius were born, knowing they were both ok.
smile.gif

Gypsy winning a coloured class and chapionship in hand classes. Ok so winning any rosette with my little rocket
smile.gif

Coming second in a novice rider class on Septre the week after she bucked me into the fence (our second ever show), she spooked at everything, almost took the judge out bolting across the ring, and had a bucking fit during our display.
blush.gif

Best of all the feeling I get when I'm with them (chessy but so true)
grin.gif

Worst: having about 98% of my confidence kicked out of my by someone (not a horse) and then being too scared to go back and ride at the yard where I've been at for 6yrs. First lesson was tough, getting over that mental block.

Best: A flatwork lesson I had a couple of years ago where it just all seemed to click. Was riding my regular ride as it were and he was a bit of "it either goes well after about 60mins of hard work or it just doesn't happen at all". From the moment I started that lesson he went like a dream. Can still remember and almost feel the power he had from his back end. Was the first time that I had truly felt at one with a horse - just fantastic. Plus it also led to a couple of the nicest compliments I've ever had about my riding. Will never forget that lesson
grin.gif

Scariest- I was about 11 and hadn't had the pony for long and I was riding with my friend on her pony at the open farm which her parents owned. My pony freaked out at the deer in the top pen and bolted full speed gallop down a track through all the picnic benches and was heading for a 6 foot gate. I thought he was going to jump it but he did a sudden sliding stop and his chest stoppped about an inch from the gate. I don't know how I stayed on but then I saw that there was a strand of barbed wire along the top of the gate, I don't wnat to think about what would have happened if he had tried to jump it. I've had a few scary moments since but that one has stayed with me.

Worst- my mare losing her foal last year.

Best- theres been so many but it's probably that moment when everything goes right and all the hard work is paid off like a first clear xc or first place in a show or even when it all comes together in schooling- getting 3rd at the RDS was also pretty special

Worst, my first mare blowing out when her girth was tightened. Got on her and she napped so rode forwards, no joy, smacked her with a crop... She took offence and galloped off with me, saddle slipped and I got dragged along the menage fence. My back was black and blue
frown.gif

Best, too hard!! Possibly the memory of my first ever canter, felt so lovely. And silly things like the same mare coming to call after I'd only had her a few weeks!

Worst - falling off ater second part of the double... I went straight over the head and she trod on my collar bone area. Luckily it wasnt broken but I couldnt move for about three weeks and I have to say it did knock my confidence jumping for a bit.

Best - just memories at pony club... prince philip cup!!! loved it!

the scariest momment was hacking flint out. coming home, with out warning, a mile left to go on straight road back to the yard with out warning he bolted. like sitting on a motorbike the power. completly helpless, a person in front started to slow down, we over took the car. after about 2 minutes and trying EVERYTHING possible, i bayled out. i lovehim to bits but would rather he hurt himself than killed the 2 of us. he made it back to the yard in one peice, though my confidence on hacking out alone has disapeared on him. i will take him down a small lane then turn round and come back, any futher than that and i dont trust him

God I have a few. But the scariest I can remember and thought I was going to lose my horse.

Riding on a ride with my friend we had been on loads of times but not for a good few years. Just going under some trees and I was going first. My pony started to sink in what can only be described as peat. She sunk as far as the top of my riding boots (long ones) whilst I was on her. I threw myself off her very very quickly to the side to give her more chance to get out without the weight of me on her back, took the reins with me and I managed to stand on solid ground and she managed to get out. She was black (normally white) and the stuff stuck to her was like tar her face was even covered in it as she paniced to get out. The dilema then was what to do as my friend has stayed put. There was no way I was going back over it and my friend didn't want to follow me after just seeing that. She just jumped off her pony and smacked his bum and he jumped into the tar stuff and managed to jump straight back out and I caught him. We were all very shook up and from then on my pony was always very reluctant to walk over muddy ground or anything similar.
I also got knocked off my first pony when I was 11 by a car. The pony was killed and I got away with a broken arm.
And Margo (pony stuck in mud above) jumped over a wall whilst I was sat on the wall watching my friend ride her. She came towards me and I thought she would stop. She didn't, jumped the bit where I was sat and stood on my face with one front foot. Fractured my cheek bone and a missed my eye by half an inch doctors who fixed me up said I was lucky not to lose my eye!!!!
But we still love em don't we?
