Hi, Can any of you recommend what is the best weed killer for docks and butter cups, and how long to keep horses off after spraying with a back pack sprayer.
Grazon works very well. You dilute it down, preferably into a sprayer or if not a watering can will do. It works well on docks, buttercups, thistles and other broad leaf weeds. You have to keep grazing animals off it for a week and it preferably needs to be used during a dry spell. You can get it from any agricultural supplies shop usually.
Are you wanting to treat the whole pasture or just spot spray the individual weeds? Roundup is very good for spot spraying and you just have to keep the animals off of the pasture until it dries.
if its just small patches i use plain old boiling water, it works in my garden so might work in a field if its small patches. horses can be turned out straight away too.
