What weight rugs?

Just wondering what others are using at the moment - Mine have been in thick heavy weights with it being so cold but today the sun is out and so I've put them out in lightweights with no necks - I think they appreciated it to be honest!

Today, lightweight with no fill turnout and a lightweight masta rug for the night (I think its 115g)

The past couple of days she's been in a light-medium weight turnout with a medium rug at night
(Hasn't had a neck since feb I think)

mine are naked!
They have been for about 2wks now bar yesterday when it was raining. They range from foals to a 38yr old to fully clipped tbs, & they all seem over the moon with it! Coming in on a night wearing half the field! lol! The 30+yo is the worst charging around & rolling every 5mins, think hes trying to get rid of this winters cobwebs!

P is in her rhino full neck - not sure of the weight but it is only a very thin fill, usually she has a fal rug underneath it (for warmth but also because she is out with a dreadful rug ripper, so with two T/Os on she stays waterproof). It is a lovely day today but the wind is chilly in her exposed field and she is clipped - so not quite ready to rough it naked just yet!

Nothing on the natives which haven't been clipped and a lw on the welsh cob just to keep him clean for this afternoon's ride.

mine are out in medium-lgithweight with no neck as of today but as we have had 4oC all week and a cold northerly wind it has felt like minus 4. sunny today but still only 8oC. she is wrmbloodxtb so not ready to rough it yet.

A LW with no fill, only because it looks like rain other wise he would be out starkers! . Overnight (turned out) he is in his HW but will be downgrading to his MW.

Charlie is out today in a medium light rug, with neck cover, should be naked today, but going to his first showing show tom, so keeping him clean

Two boys (TB and native x) are in 200g rugs at night and naked in the day (TB has rainsheet on if miserable). Welsh girly is naked as usual! They all live out.

Mine went our naked today for the first time - she is cob x TB but doesnt grow a thick coat. She has been in 180g during day for last week or so and has a medium on at night but will be putting LW on tonight so she can burn some fat off before spring grass shoots up!

Thanks for the replies - sounds like the majority of us are downsizing the rugs - fingers crossed it stays warmer - they'll be out naked before we know it! (my shetland hasn't ever worn a rug as she's had to lose weight over winter but the others all have).

I have a shettie, a welshie, a connie, a lightweight cob and a heavyweight cob. All have been naked all winter.
I also have a tb x who has had a mediumweight combo (Amigo) on through winter but he has that off during the day ...they all live out 24/7/365. In fact, during this dry spell he has been naked at night too although he is not clipped.

Still in a HW at night cos it's a wee bit chilly still, but a MW during the warmer days. Such a relief to finally get the heavy fullnecks off, they've been on since december with this relentless weather!

Mine don't seem to worry about the cold as long as its dry. Wet is the only thing my tb x can't seem to tolerate...wuss

Mine went out in his lightweight this morning, 7am, as still below freezing and to keep hime clean for me to ride. Out in his fly sheet now, it's still mild so leaving him out as long as possible.

Ours are both in their rambo supremes Tom cos hes a fairy and Ron cos he's fully clipped and the wind is freezing even tho the sunshine is lovely. if it stays fine I might put them into m/w tomorrow.

Down from MW to LW with half neck - chaser clipped native living out 24/7 who is naturally a hot chap and is in a very sheltered field. I would rather have him a bit cold than too hot.

Oscar is naked during the day and 200 gram middlewieght on at nite! At the stud we have just stripped the foals off (they are 24/7 turnout) and they are loving it. . . Everyone else has gone down a rug thickness in the last week and one of the mares is nude!!! Spring is coming Yay!!!

100g stable rug over night. It has a neck but is folded back. LW TO with no fill and no neck during the day.

He needs to lose some weight and was scorching underneath a 200g TO so have downgraded the rugs. He is now much happier I have a very good doer, chunky IDx type though so he won't get upset if he's cooler rather than warmer. His field mate, same height and type, is in a no fill no neck TO 24/7.
