What were you doing with/ competing your horse in today???

3rd time out stressaging with my youngster. Well behaved baby but we had achieved better marks last time! So aimed for more impulsion as per previous comments on my sheets...

And too much so went tight over his back. Oh well, lesson learnt!

My mare is coming back into work and I'm battling some confidence issues after some nasty falls so I lunged, did some groundwork and popped on and did a bit of schooling and she felt amazing :) Not stopped smiling yet!

We had a hack with some of the ponies from the yard; 2.5 miles including a piece of main road and two right turns, into and out of junctions, one impatient pollock who beeped at us while we were waiting at a junction, THREE muppets who tried to squeeze between us and some parked cars (three sepparate incidents) one almost driving into the middle pony who hasn't been hacked for over a year, some idiots on mopeds and not one of the ponies put a foot wrong! (can't say wether the riders did but we came back safely so that'll be good enough for now)
My horse was steaming from head to toe when we got back; we only walked!! That'll be me working on her fitness then!!!

Hacked out ride and lead. Chloe spooked at a pheasant and I nearly came a cropper as they both took off on the bridleway. Other than that both behaved themselves, despite high winds!

Horses only went out for a few hours this morning so exercised all 3 of them thiss afternoon.

Lunged the 3 year old.
Schooled the stressy tb for the first time in a week and first time since she has been on the new ulcer supplement. She started same as usual but by the end she was going really well into the contact and responding much better to my seat.

Then schooled my 5 year old. practised trot- canter- trot transitions, some were really great. Then did some simple changes which are slowly starting to get there!

Awesome hacking this weekend trotting through all the floods on the roads and down the bridleways - great fun! Horse loved it too! Although I did get caught "woohoo" ing by a rather good looking dog walker which was a tad embarrassing!

Hacked out in the SUNSHINE!! - and asked to slow down by the others following as my boy was all for changing a mud splashed canter into a gallop. Managed it though - good boy!

Normal stable duties for my 2 girlies, then took my grey mare BS for the first time since July. Chuffed to bits with 5th place, and the pole we rolled was really my fault! Then finished off by having cuddles and playing with my new 3yo, whom I hope to back after Christmas. Thoroughly enjoyed my Sunday :D

Let them out for 2 hours in my waterlogged home paddock for exercise thats the one with the steep slope as the bottom paddocks are so water logged and semi flooded. Good thing that the yard is 50 feet higher than the bottom paddock and the stable yard slopes. Reason I bought it as got caught in the floods of 2007 in oxfordshire. My heart goes out to all those trying to cope with horses and stock in these dreadful conditions. No hacking out as too flooded and dangerous as we have narrow lanes and the farmers are having to move stock ect. Lets hope it stops soon been raining here almost non stop for a year now!!! Its no fun for us stuck in the floods!

Not competing so much with as against my two who decided breaking through the fence and hooning through gigantic puddles in the flooded summer paddock was far more fun than coming in for their breakfasts.

Ours were done quickly this morning as my partner & I were organising & running the Native Foal & Youngstock Show at Inchcoonans EC. We had a good entry with some quality ponies & horses there. Really enjoyed my day, was good to give something back to the showing world. Nice to meet some H&Hrs too :)

Did 1st indoor driving trial of the season. Unplaced as I, as per usual messed up the cones but if I could sort that out then our dressage and obstacles are good enough to be competitive which is reassuring. Crazy little pony, she was so excited!

went down about half 4 to school madame and got a lovely trot out of her and some huge jumps over a tiny cross, we had much better steering less drifting through the shoulder, and no refusals or runs out. so im all smiles :)

Had a great lesson, finished just before the rain came and it's been lashing ever since! Did some nice on the bit flatwork, and then a bit of jumping, jumped the 2nd last slot on the polyjump thingy, think it was about 2ft9, highest I ever jumped!

Was supposed to be going for a grid work lesson at my riding club but the driver's side windscreen wiper broke on my tow car yesterday and my husband didn't have time to fix it until this morning! Of course it didn't rain this morning but was a bit risky so my friend and I did our own grid work session. Lots to work on with my boy by the end he was lots straighter but he needs to stop being such a know it all (he is very experienced at show jumping) and let me set the pace :)
